Tânia Beque
Girl MOVER Alumni

“I am an environmental educator. I will always be concerned about women's knowledge and skills to manage natural resources, women are the main managers of natural resources.”

Tânia always had a soft spot for climate change, she started in medicine but it was her passion for nature that put her on the path of Environmental Education.

Tânia started her path in medicine but it was her passion for nature that made her put her Degree on hold and start a new one in Environmental Education. After finishing her Bachelor's Degree and the CHANGE Program, she interned at Lipor, in Lisbon, and in Maputo at “Centro Terra Viva”, an environmental NGO focused on defending and promoting environmental rights.

Since then, she’s been working in Tindzila, a Mozambican organization for environmental consulting and promotion of human development. She’s part of the team managing the Tindzila Fund, a program to financially support community projects with potential to promote a sustainable environmental development for their communities.

Tânia always had a soft spot for climate change, maybe because Mozambique is one of the most vulnerable and affected countries in the world. That’s why she decided to start a Master’s Degree in Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation. Over the next 5 years, Tânia’s goal is to collaborate with international organizations working in coordination with the Mozambican Government to capitalize initiatives promoting sustainable development, mitigation and adaptation to climate change and community resilience towards gender equality.”
